The Pennsylvania Liquor Control Board announced today that the agency has returned more than $2.2 million in licensing fees to more than 1,300 municipalities, including some in Indiana County.
The LCB is required by law twice a year to return license fees paid by LCB licensees to the municipalities that are home to the licenses. This distribution is for fees paid from February 1st to July 31st. Licensees pay liquor license fees ranging from $125 to $700 as part of the annual license renewal or validation process. The fees are then returned to the municipalities, who can use the funds any way they see fit. Through the last five years, the PLCB returned more than $18 million in licensing fees.
Indiana County municipalities will receive $20,150 in license fees being returned. The most for the county, which is $6,100, will go to Indiana Borough, while the next highest is White Township at $5,400. The lowest returns will go to Homer City and Glenn Campbell, who will each receive $50.
