Sandra (Sivulich) Dudash, 78 of Homer City, passed away October 12, 2019, at Indiana Hospital after a long illness. She was born on April 25, 1941 in Dixonville, PA, the daughter of the late Eva (Rudiak) and George (Lefty) Sivulich.
Sandy was a registered nurse, a graduate of the Presbyterian Hospital School of Nursing and earned a BS in Nursing and a Masters in School Counseling from IUP. She was the Excellence Foundation 2002 Educator of the Year. Sandy was retired from the Homer Center School District where she worked as a school nurse and guidance counsellor at the elementary and high schools for 25 years, nurturing and influencing countless students in the district. After her retirement, Sandy volunteered at Meals on Wheels, the Homer City Public Library, as an elementary school aide, and for the Evergreen Conservancy. In her free time, Sandy enjoyed traveling, spending time with her grandchildren, and the cooking and baking she was noted for.
Sandy was a member of St. Mary’s Holy Protection Byzantine Catholic Church, Homer City.
In addition to her husband John (Yush) of 57 years, she is survived by daughter Audrey Burt and husband Dave of San Rafael, CA, and son, Andrew Dudash and wife Janine of Huntingdon, PA. She is also survived by grandchildren Abigail and Meredith Sites and Silas, Kazmira, August and Miles Dudash.
Also surviving are brother Kenneth Sivulich and wife Sandra of St. Augustine, FL, sister Nancy Young of Houston, TX, and sister Deborah Magley and husband John of League City, TX, as well as numerous nieces and nephews. She was preceded in death by Son, John Dudash, Jr.
The family would like to thank all fo the people and agencies that helped her through a very difficult time.
Friends will be received Thursday from 2-4 and 6-8 PM at the C. Frederick Bowser Funeral Home, Homer-City where a Parastas will be held at 3 PM at the funeral home. A Panachida will be recited Friday at 9:15 AM at the funeral home followed by a Divine Liturgy of Christian Burial at 10 AM at St. Mary’s Holy Protection Byzantine Catholic Church, Homer City. Innichement will be held in the Oakland Cemetery, Indiana.
