Aside from an investigation into an assault that turned out to be unfounded, moderate activity was reported on Friday as part of the unsanctioned “IUPatty’s” weekend.
The Indiana Area Collaborative Team said that along with the investigation at the HUB, IUP police did report four arrests. Three were related to underage drinking and one was for marijuana use. They also pulled over eight vehicles, and issued one citation for an expired inspection, and seven were given verbal warnings.
Indiana Borough Police reported 23 IUP-related calls. They did note off-campus gatherings started around 3:00 PM, and those in the South 7th Street and Rice Avenue areas were large. The majority of the gatherings in Indiana Borough were close to campus without significant impacts to other neighborhoods. Out of the seven who were arrested, five of them were non-IUP students who were charged with drug possession, criminal mischief, public drunkenness or disorderly conduct. Two other IUP students were charged with noise ordinance violations.
State police did report a very busy night but no significant disturbances, including two crashes, eight DUI arrests, two incidents of retail theft, and three investigations by the Bureau of Liquor Control Enforcement.
