The IUP women land as the fourth seed in the Division II Atlantic Region basketball bracket and will take on number five Fairmont State on Friday, with a potential rematch against top seed Edinboro in the second round.
Edinboro will play number 8 Virginia State in the first round. The lower half of the bracket has number two Gannon playing number seven Fayetteville State and number three Seton Hill taking on number six Kutztown. All of the action is at Edinboro, where IUP lost in the PSAC quarterfinals last week, falling to the Fighting Scots, 66-64.
Kutztown upset Edinboro, 78-64 to win the women’s PSAC championship yesterday. Gannon won the men’s title, 74-58 over Shepherd.
Gametimes for the women’s Atlantic Regional have not yet been announced.

HONORS FOR WEAVER, STRAYHORN
IUP’s Ny’Shae Weaver and Shamia Strayhorn have both been named first team All-PSAC West. Weaver averaged 15.0 points and 11.3 rebounds per game. She was All-PSAC West second team last year. Strayhorn averaged 16.0 points per game in her first and only season at IUP.
