Quarterback Justin Fields is leaving the Pittsburgh Steelers after just one season and is headed to New York Jets via free agency, according to ESPN’s Adam Schefter. According to the report, the deal is for two years and $40 million, including $30 million guaranteed.
Fields, who turned 26 last week, completed 106 of his 161 passes (65.8%) for 1,106 yards, five passing touchdowns and only one interception in 10 games (six starts) last season. He also ran 62 times for 289 yards and five more scores.
And sad news for all Steelers fans today: Craig Wolfley, a former offensive lineman and media personality for the Pittsburgh Steelers, died Monday at the age of 66. He had recently been diagnosed with an undisclosed form of cancer.
Wolfley became the team’s radio color analyst in 2022. He replaced his best friend and long-time playing sidekick Tunch Ilkin, who passed away in September 2021. Previously, Wolfley served as the team’s sideline reporter on their radio broadcasts.
Wolfley played for the Steelers from 1980 to 1989 and for the Minnesota Vikings for two years after that.
