GIRLS BASKETBALL
The girls took the court last night in the District 6 playoffs, with three Heritage Conference teams moving on to the semifinals.

Fourth seed Marion Center had beaten Cambria Heights decisively twice this season, but the Highlanders prevailed in last night’s 4/5 matchup. Here’s Todd Marino. (43-39 CH in overtime.)
River Valley will host Cambria Heights on Monday in the semis.
In the other half of the bracket, Central Cambria routed Mount Union, 69-29. Number six Richland tripped up number three Penns Valley, 49-47.
In AA, top seed Bishop McCort moves on with a big win over Homer-Center. Mark Bertig has the recap.(McCort wins, 71-22.)
Second seed Penns Manor led 33-0 at halftime and destroyed Claysburg-Kimmel, 54-8. Allie Mumau scored 24 points and had 11 rebounds and 6 blocks. Alysa Altemus added 21 with 8 assists and 7 boards.
The Comets will play next on Monday against Southern Huntingdon, which beat United, 55-32.
Bellwood Antis eliminated Portage, 69-50, and will play at Bishop McCort on Monday.
No District 6 action involving Heritage Conference teams on tonight’s schedule. Tomorrow in boys AAA, West Shamokin visits Westmont Hilltop on Cat Country, 106.3 FM.
The AA boys semis on Saturday will have Northern Cambria at West Branch on Cat Country 106.3 FM, tipping off at 5, and Bishop McCort visits Portage.
WPIAL GIRLS
Indiana fell to Peters Township, 51-32 in 5A girls. Emily Betsinger led Indiana with 12 points. They are still alive in the quest for a state playoff berth. They’ll play at Section rival Penn Trafford on Friday.
