Senate Majority Leader Joe Pittman on Tuesday emphasized the importance of permitting reforms championed by Senate Republicans, calling them vital for job creation and economic growth. He noted that legislative action taken in July ensured these reforms were permanently established, unlike executive orders that can be easily rescinded.
Pittman said the results of the Nov. 5 election underscored the need for a stronger economy to combat inflation and expand access to family-sustaining jobs. In a statement, he said “Pennsylvanians delivered a clear message that improving the economy must be a priority.”
While welcoming Gov. Josh Shapiro’s recent executive order on permitting reform, Pittman questioned how it differs from prior Republican-led legislation. He said, “We invite the governor and his Democratic colleagues to collaborate on additional initiatives to support Pennsylvania families and businesses.”
