Festivities continue at the 41st Saltsburg Canal Days today.
After a successful first night that showcased three music groups, day two gets underway with opening ceremonies featuring DJ Jammin Jim at 11 a.m., followed by then annual Firemen’s Parade at noon. Officials say the parade can best be viewed from Salt Street and Market Street. After that, games and vendors will open up for the rest of the day.
Bands return to the Big Dog Energy Stage in the afternoon, led off by Black Ridge from 12:30 to 2:30. Voodoo Radio follows from 3:30 to 5:30 p.m., then a Karaoke Contest, sponsored by Anna Clark of Berkshire Hathaway, will follow. The headlining act will be The Thieves, starting at 7, then events wrap up with a fireworks show at 10 p.m.
With all the festivities making for a busy weekend, Jim Libengood said it’s taken a community effort to make the Canal Days a success.
The festival continues tomorrow. For a full schedule of events, head to the Saltsburg Canal Days Facebook page, which can be accessed here.
