A bill introduced in the state Senate deals with proper spelling on state-issued documents that goes beyond the letters in someone’s name.
Some first or last names also include accents or other diacritical marks, and legislation would require these marks as part of the proper spelling of names names on drivers licenses or other PennDOTissued documents. The bill’s sponsor says PennDOT is on board with this change, but since the agency is in the process of reconfiguring its computer system, completion wouldn’t be possible before July 2024.
